“Utopia” is one of a series of triptychs titled “Utopia,” which I began creating in 2013. Utopia is an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. When creating the first piece in this series, I was simply creating a triptych with one tree spanning all three panels and a field of flowers lining the foreground of the image. While it was not my original intent, upon completing this first piece it reminded me of a special place I first imagined (created) during a hypnosis session, and which I have since often gone back to. Accordingly, I titled the piece “Utopia.” Since I create many of my artworks for the purpose of providing healing for others, I continue creating “Utopia” triptychs in hopes of giving those in need a bit of Utopic reprieve.
Appropriately placed, UC Davis Medical Center is a nationally recognized academic health center in Sacramento, California with a patient-centered primary care model. Owned and operated by the University of California, it maintains a staff of specialists and researchers in more than 150 areas of health care, as well as the latest treatment options and expertise for the most complex health conditions. UC Davis Medical Center is ranked among the nation’s top hospitals, and it is the primary teaching hospital affiliated with the UC Davis School of Medicine. I am honored to have my artwork here, and I hope it brings peace and healing to all who observe it.
